Bible Verse: Nahum
7:1.
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble;
and he knoweth them that trust in him.
Get a grip:
Whenever possible, I like to walk on the beach,
grab a handful of sand, and sift it through my fingers.
The fine granules trickle away and the larger particles
-- smooth pebbles or pieces of eroded glass -- are
left behind. Every now and then, life feels like
it’s slipping right through our fingers. There’s
always so much to do and so little time or resources
to do it with. There seems to be so few opportunities
to connect with the ones we love.
It seems like the opportunities to make our lives
better and more fulfilled are slipping away. The
more money we make the more we spend. When can we
enjoy the fruits of our labour? How many bad relationships
must we experience before we can relax and enjoy
one that speaks to our spirit and waters our soul?
Just when we think we have a firm grip on life,
we end up hanging on by our fingernails!
When Jesus came, He offered everyday people something
they had never thought possible. He offered them
rest from their labours and the ability to experience
joy in their daily tasks. We can also grab hold
of that joy and the peace that will allow us to
master any situation.
Don’t let the sands of time run through your
fingers. Grab hold of the promises that God has
provided. Now is the time to start living the life
He has intended for you. Take hold of the covenant
the Lord has established and seize your inheritance.
His grip is sure, and His hand will never let you
go.
